Au début du cycle 2, l’apprentissage de la langue vivante étrangère se réalise essentiellement à l’oral. L’écrit est introduit au CE2 pour être véritablement étudié au CM1 et au CM2. C’est pourquoi l’élève de 8/9 ans peut être amené à effectuer un exercice de lecture et compréhension au CE2. En fonction de son niveau, il travaille sur un court texte ou un extrait de livre. Afin d’améliorer les résultats en langue vivante des élèves français, il est envisageable de les entraîner à la compréhension de texte en anglais dès le CE2. Cela peut se faire à travers des lectures issues de la littérature de jeunesse. Un exercice de lecture et compréhension au CE2 sous forme de fiche à télécharger peut aussi être proposé. En parcourant le site Pass-education, vous trouverez de courts récits avec un questionnaire invitant les élèves de 8/9 ans à écrire leurs réponses. Par exemple, le dossier « a beautiful rainbow » contient 2 fiches. Sur la 1re se trouve l’extrait d’une histoire avec 4 questions et sur la 2e se situe la correction. Ce travail peut s’inscrire dans le cadre d’une séquence sur ce thème ou être proposé en activité décrochée. Grâce au fichier réponse, il peut être effectué en classe en toute autonomie ou à la maison en guise d’entraînement.
